The children in iour Playscheme have taken part in a number of consultations on what they want the former library to become and these sessions have inspired them to uncover other places of historic interest in the area.
The trail has been part funded by Carillion who are currently working on building the new Royal Liverpool Hospital.
The group of budding explorers plan to create a Tuebrook Heritage Trail. They have plans to carry out historic research, uncover local myths and identify interesting places and buildings in the local area. The group plan to go on walkabouts to discover hidden heritage in the neighbourhood which they can then share with the community by creating the trail.
Sharon Redman Play-scheme Team Leader says “The children in our Playscheme are fascinated by local history and have regularly contributed to our plans to develop the former library. They are excited to work as a team with our Heritage Development Officer to uncover other places of historic interest in Tuebrook and potentially suggest new uses for these places also.”
The group will start their research with a visit to the Museum of Liverpool to learn about local history and get some tips on how to create trails.
There are still a limited number of places available. Call Lister Steps on 0151 254 1394 for more details.
